Ntsigo – A Kaleidoscope of Sound and Soul

From the buzzing streets of Gqeberha to the electric pulse of Johannesburg’s nightlife, Ntsikelelo Yili—better known as Ntsigo— has been shaping soundscapes for nearly two decades. Formerly known as Pablo, he embraced his childhood nickname after realizing that the world already had too many Pablos. The switch? A simple yet powerful step toward embracing authenticity.

Born on 24 June under the intuitive sign of Cancer, Ntsigo describes himself in three words: eclectic, resilient, charismatic. Those qualities bleed into his music—a deep house journey laced with jazzy textures, broken rhythms, and leftfield explorations. Inspired by the likes of Larry Heard (thanks to his older brother’s record collection), Osunlade, Roc Marciano, Sibusiso Mashiloane, and even his cousin Alias The Beatmaker, Ntsigo views music as more than sound—it’s healing.

What started as teenage hustle quickly transformed into passion. At just 16, Ntsigo was throwing events, then picked up DJing, and eventually slid into production with the help of friends. Today, after 19 years in the game, he’s carved out a reputation for not only spinning deep house but also blending hip hop, soul, and breaks. “I defs enjoy just playing good music,” he laughs—a true house party DJ at heart.

When he’s not behind the turntables, Ntsigo wears many hats: event curator, sustainability advocate, merch seller, health insurance professional, and tech skills student. Grounded yet ambitious, he’s proof that artists can thrive across multiple worlds while staying rooted in creativity. Oh—and if you ever want to make his day, serve him Umngqusho and lamb stew.

Biggest career highlight? Opening for Bongeziwe Mabandla. Lowest? That time he played an unpaid gig in Rosebank and ended up stranded, waiting for taxis in the morning. Proof that behind the glamour, the grind is real.

Perhaps it’s no surprise that his favorite quote comes from Napoleon Hill: “Perhaps we shall learn, as we pass through this age, that the 'other self' is more powerful than the physical self we see when we look into a mirror.” It’s a reflection of how Ntsigo approaches both life and music—with depth, vision, and a belief in unseen power.

2025 and beyond promises new singles, collaborations, and events, with Ntsigo set on making his mark not only in South Africa but globally. He’s passionate about African electronic and alternative music expanding worldwide and hopes to see more youth inclusion, opportunities, and fairer industry practices.

Mutiny: A Deep House Awakening

His latest project, the EP Mutiny, is a sonic rebellion. Born from a spiritual awakening during chaotic times, Mutiny is a 3-track journey that bends genres and expectations. It’s jazzy, dark, broken, and leftfield—a bold statement about staying true to oneself and going against the grain. “It speaks about defining the odds,” he says, “and immersing yourself in controlled chaos.”
